SECRETARY COHEN DOESN'T RECALL ABLE DANGER

It's good to see that everyone is so ginned up on the Cindy Sheehan extravaganza that they ignored former Secretary Of Defense under King Clinton, William Cohen, playing the stupid drum for a deaf audience tonight in a Wolfy interview, regarding Able Danger. (sarcasm off)

Excerpt of CNN interview:

BLITZER: Did you know about this unit called Able Danger, these special operations forces that the chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Hugh Shelton, had created?

COHEN: I'm not -- I don't have a recollection specifically of that. I certainly know that there were a number of special forces that were set up to gather information. I don't recall receiving that particular report, though.

BLITZER: But you do recall that there were prohibitions on the U.S. military informing the FBI of potential threats out there? Because that sounds pretty outrageous to the average person out there.

COHEN: I'm not sure there was a prohibition against that. All I'm saying -- there were a number of prohibitions in terms of what information the CIA could share with the FBI and the FBI with the CIA, what the Pentagon could do, what our military could do in terms of enforcing or using military forces to protect the country domestically. All that has been changed now by 9/11, but prior to that there were a number of
restrictions. This may have been one of them. I'm not familiar with it.

So, he knows of Able Danger, but knows nothing more. Please! They (Clinton Admin.) screwed up so badly on this issue, they are essentially now all braindead on the matter.

What I would like to see is a few lawyers FIRED, Gorelicks reputation ruined, led by a massive Senatorial investigation. I get the feeling that if this occurred under Bush, good 'ole Chuck Schumer would have gone NU-KU-LAR by now.

ABLE DANGER: F*ck You and Your Timeline

While most liberal sites continue to ignore Able Danger like strong economic statistics, right wingers seem to be throwing in the towel- declaring Rep. Weldon to be waffling. Is it just me, or has she been rather shrill lately?

Well, I got news for you: this story isn't going away because the 9/11 commissioners says it should. I said it once, I'll say it again-- fuck you and your timeline. Whether Rep. Weldon is of the tin foil hat persuasion or not is irrelevant. The fact still remains, Able Danger should have been disclosed to the American public by the 9/11 commission, not by some obscure Congressman.

The whole point is, thousands of lives have been ruined because of 9/11 intelligence failures. It is not up to the people who screwed up in the first place (lawmakers) to decide whether a top secret operation, that may have identified Atta & co. prior to 9/11, is credible or not.

No More Games about Able Danger. It’s Time for a Congressional Investigation

I’m sorry, Mr. Podhoretz and Mr. Geraghty. You can’t just go from We don’t know nuttin’” to “Able Danger? Yeah? We knew all about them. Bunch of briefings. Not really credible” in four or five days.

Which of these statements was true? We know the Committee has already had to backtrack on even knowing about Able Danger. We know that their story has changed nearly every single day.

The ball is simply not in Congressman Weldon’s court. The ball is in Congress’ court. Weldon has made allegations and has a group of at least four sources who were members of the group. The Commission has lied about what they knew, not only about Able Danger, but about what the group gave them.

This isn’t a matter for “allegation tennis”. This is a serious matter that ought to involve Congressional subpoenas and the bright white light of a serious and comprehensive investigation.

And this time, let it be with Congressmen. Subpoena Weldon and his sources. Subpoena the staffers to whom they said they spoke. Subpoena Jamie Gorelick on why this information couldn’t be passed to the FBI.

No more grandstanding Commissioners. No more conflicts of interest on the stage. No more 9/11 Mothers running the Commission like it was their own personal sandbox. Just a Congressional Committee, the witnesses, and the eyes of the American people. Let’s get to the bottom of what happened once and for all.

Other skeptics:
THE BALL IS IN YOUR COURT, CONGRESSMAN WELDON

WE MAY OWE THEM A BIG APOLOGY

Steyn excerpts:

But, hey, let's not have a philosophical discussion, let's keep it practical: There was "no way" that Atta could have been in the United States except when the official INS record says he was? No INS paper trail, "no way" he could have got in?

Here's one way just for a start. Forget the southern border, insofar as there is such a thing. Fact: On America's northern border, no record is kept of individual visitors to the United States. All that happens is that a photo scanner snaps your rear license plate. The scanner is said to be state-of-the-art, which is to say, as one Customs & Border official told me, it's "officially" 75 percent accurate. On the one occasion my own license plate was queried, it turned out the scanner had misread it. So, just for a start, without any particular difficulty, a friend of Mohammed Atta could have rented a car for him in Montreal and driven him down to New York -- and there would be never be any record to connect him to the vehicle anywhere in the United States or Canada.

Would al-Qaida types have such contacts in Montreal? Absolutely. The city's
a hotbed of Islamist cells and sympathizers.

Fact: The only Islamist terrorist attack prevented by the U.S. government in the period before 9/11 was the attempt to blow up LAX by Ahmed Ressam, a Montrealer caught on the Washington/British Columbia frontier by an alert official who happened to notice he seemed to be a little sweaty. A different guard, a cooler Islamist, and it might just have been yet another routine unrecorded border crossing.

So, when the 9/11 Commission starts saying that there's "no way" something can happen when it happens every single day of the week, you start to wonder what exactly is the point of an official investigation so locked in to pre-set conclusions.

For example, they seemed oddly determined to fix June 3, 2000, as the official date of Atta's first landing on American soil -- even though there were several alleged sightings of him before that date, including a bizarre story that he'd trained at Maxwell/Gunter Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala. Atta was a very mobile guy in the years before 9/11, shuttling between Germany, Spain, Afghanistan, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, the Philippines with effortless ease. I've no hard evidence of where he was in, say, April 2000. The period between late 1999 and May 2000 is, in many ways, a big blur. He might have been in Germany, he might have been in Florida, attempting to get a U.S. Farm Service Agency loan for the world's biggest cropduster, as reported by USDA official Johnell Bryant.

But I do know it's absurd to suggest he was never in the United States until June 3, 2000, simply because that's what the INS says -- especially when U.S. military intelligence says something quite different.

Sept. 11 was a total government fiasco: CIA, FBI, INS, FAA, all the hot shot acronyms failed spectacularly. But appoint an official commission and let them issue an official report and suddenly everyone says, oh, well, this is the official version of 9/11; if they say something didn't happen, it can't possibly have happened.

Readers may recall that I never cared for the commission. There were too many showboating partisan hacks -- Richard ben Veniste, Bob Kerrey -- who seemed more interested in playing to the rhythms of election season. There was at least one person with an outrageous conflict of interest: Clinton Justice Department honcho Jamie Gorelick, who shouldn't have been on the commission but instead a key witness appearing in front of it. And there were far too many areas where the members appeared to be interested only in facts that supported a predetermined outcome.

Maybe we need a 9/11 Commission Commission to investigate the 9/11
Commission. A body intended to reassure Americans that the lessons of that
terrible day had been learned instead engaged in what at best was transparent
politicking and collusion in posterior-covering and at worst was something a
whole lot darker and more disturbing.

The problem pre-9/11 was always political: that's to say, no matter how
savvy individual operatives in various agencies may have been, the political
culture of the day meant that nothing would happen except a memo would get typed
up and shoveled into a filing cabinet. Together with other never fully explained
episodes -- like Sandy Berger's pants-stuffing at the national archives -- the
Able Danger story makes one thing plain: The problem is still political.

Fuck you and your timeline.

Just One Minute: Don't Twist in the Wind Like That

As my voyage throughout the liberal blogosphere continues, I come across this guy who believes the 9/11 commissioners did a great, bang up job and that the onus of responsibility is and always has been on Rep. Weldon.

I suppose he is in the camp that believes us tax payers did not need to know about Able Danger from our entrusted investigators. After all, the Able Danger report was mucking up their fucking timeline-- the 9/11 boys and gals would have none of that.

Government Boy writes:

When did Weldon learn that Able Danger had identified Atta - is that a fair
question to put to him?

Let's not muddy the water. If the 9/11 commission knew about Able Danger-- it should have been in the report. Plus, Ms. Jamie Gorelick, 9/11 commissioner and fucking wall keeper under King Clinton, should have let us common folk read about such happenings in their best selling novel.

Was that sarcastic enough? If not, I can do more.

ABLE DANGER: Blogosphere Opinions

As I surf through liberal websites, all I read is Cindy Sheehan stuff, then more Sheehan mixed with O'reilly and Malkin bashing. WTF? Where the fuck is the Able Danger commentary? I ask because I would like to read the liberal version of it. Unfortunately, I could only find one recent story that manages to produce a decent word count, but says nothing.

So, as we near the 4th anniversary of 9/11, the liberals have decided to go hippie anti-war on America. More of the same for how long now? Instead of beating the stupid drum till our ears bleed-- Sheehan and co. should ask: Why the fuck wasn't Atta arrested in 2000? Cause if he was, Ms. Sheehan's son would be alive today.

Why not? It would be a breath of fresh air to have a man with a backbone-- who does not consult with the likes of Rove in order to take a leak.

Via WND:

"The 9-11 commission has released multiple statements over the past week, each of which has significantly changed – from initially denying ever being briefed to acknowledging being briefed on both operation Able Danger and Mohammed Atta," he said. "The information was omitted primarily because they found it to be suspect despite having been briefed on it two times by two different military officers on active duty. Additionally, the 9-11 commission also received documents from the Department of Defense on Able Danger." -- Congressman Curt Weldon

CALLING ALL LIBS

I do not dislike liberally minded people. As a matter of fact, most of my friends think Howard Dean is the coolest thing since the ice cube was invented. But, liberal bloggers, because of their political partisanship, are dropping the ball by ignoring the massive cover up of Operation Able Danger-- instead they are fixated on the sorrows of Cindy Sheehan or poking fun at Michelle Malkin. This guy gets it.

Granted, if it were a GOP administration that was at fault, I am certain the equally shrill right wing blogs would declare Able Danger to be allegory. That is why I do not belong to a political party and refuse to engage in right vs. left hackery.

Operation Able Danger, if taken seriously, would have prevented 9-11 and saved thousands of lives in New York, Iraq and Afghanistan. To ignore this story because King Clinton and our savior Hillary were in office at the time- is tantamount to being a political party servant, not to mention unamerican.
